Hollywood Pioneer Rita Lakin
Thursday, February 7
7:30pm, Library Reading Room

At a time when Hollywood television was almost exclusively male, Rita Lakin, a young widow, longed to enter the glitzy world of show business, where she hoped to provide a better life for her three young children. A lifelong writer, Rita did not let her outsider status hold her back. Soon she made her way from secretary at Universal to head writer for hit shows like "Dr. Kildare" and "The Mod Squad."

When she left showbiz after an illustrious 25-year career writing, editing, and producing for primetime and daytime TV, she ventured into writing novels, creating a humorous crime series about elderly private eyes called Getting Old Is Murder.

Come hear Rita's riveting Hollywood tales firsthand in this rare appearance!

Doors open at 7pm. Sponsored by the Friends of the San Anselmo Library and the Library Parcel Tax.
